Stargazing: 3 Stellar Star Quilt Patterns to Try

Anna’s Star Mini Quilt

There's something about summer that makes me think back to time spent gazing up at the stars, and the sense of wonder and awe of it all.

Maybe it’s that “unknowableness” that has me return time and time again to star quilt blocks. Or maybe it’s just the geometric possibility of them. Who knows.

Either way, I’m excited to bring some starry inspiration into your quilting projects with three beautiful quilt patterns that capture the essence of those sparkling summer nights.

So without further ado, here are three superstar patterns for you, whether you just want to make a single quilt block, a mini quilt, or a throw (or crib) size quilt!

My Tabby Weave Star Block is my ode to the classic Woven Star quilt block. My version doubles the basket weaving, and with just a little strip piecing and some snowballed corners, it comes together in a snap.

And bonus: it’s a great way to use up leftover lengths of binding as you only need 1¾" wide strips for the stars.

My bestselling Anna's Star Mini Quilt is an updated version of the classic Massachusetts star block. It offsets the star and adds in some stripes to play with the possibilities that half and quarter square triangles present.

Whether you just love HSTs, QSTs, or SQSTs, or are looking to try one (or all) of them for the first time, this pattern is perfect for you!

I’ve often got a pretty random assortment of WOF strips on my hands.

My Supernova Stripes quilt pattern is my solution to put those WOF strips to use. And to make it extra versatile, I’ve included instructions to mix in background strips or to make the center star with only accent fabrics.

As you embark on your next quilting adventure, I hope these starry patterns have sparked your creativity and inspired you to bring a bit of that summer night magic into your own projects.

Whether you're piecing together the classic lines of the Tabby Weave Star, exploring the playful geometry of Anna's Star Mini Quilt, or making a bold statement with the Supernova Stripes, each pattern offers a unique way to capture the essence of those sparkling skies.

So gather your favorite fabrics, get stitching, and let these quilts shine as brightly as the stars that inspired them!
