You’re invited: Join the Stars & Variations Quilt Along!

The “original” Multi-Colored Version of Stars & Variations

I’m thrilled to announce the start of something stellar – the Stars & Variations Quilt Along (QAL) starting January 19, 2025!

This QAL is designed to guide you through the creative process at a comfortable pace. I’ve structured this Quilt Along with a strong emphasis on staying organized by focusing on one block variation at a time.

With six different block variations, each made in two colorways, keeping track of your fabrics and steps is essential to avoid feeling overwhelmed. By breaking everything down into manageable steps, we’ll stay focused and make steady progress from start to finish.

How To Join the QAL?

Simply pick up a copy of the pattern and make sure you’re on my weekly email newsletter list. That’s it!

There is no need to sign up for a separate email list. I’ll be sending all QAL updates, reminders, and tips directly to you in my regular weekly emails. That way, you’ll get all the info you need without having to manage multiple emails in your inbox. Easy, right?

We’ll be starting on January 19, with a 15-week schedule that lets you take your time and enjoy the process. And the best part? Each week, we’ll focus on a specific task that moves you closer to creating your finished quilt.

Stars & Variations QAL Schedule

With six different block variations, each made in two colorways, staying organized can be the trickiest part of this quilt. That’s why I’ve set this pattern at an "easy intermediate" skill level. The QAL will help you stay on top of things and avoid feeling overwhelmed. By focusing on one block variation every two weeks, you’ll have plenty of time to stay organized and move forward without rushing or mixing things up.

Here’s the full schedule for our quilt along:

Staying Accountable and On Track

One of the best things about participating in a Quilt Along (QAL) is the built-in structure that helps you stay on track. With a gentle pace and clear weekly steps, this QAL makes it easy to stay organized and move forward without feeling rushed.

Staying motivated over the long term can be challenging, especially when life gets busy. This is where the QAL format really shines. By breaking down the quilt into manageable weekly steps, you’re creating a natural rhythm that makes the process feel easier and more enjoyable.

How to Stay On Track:

  1. Set Weekly Goals: I’ve already done this for you! Each week, I’ve broken down the specific tasks you’ll focus on, whether it’s picking your fabric or assembling your first block variations. These small, manageable goals will keep you on track and give you a sense of accomplishment as you progress.

  2. Create a Dedicated Sewing Time: Life can get hectic, but setting aside time each week to work on your quilt is key. Whether it’s a few minutes each evening or a chunk of time on weekends, having a scheduled sewing time can help you stay consistent.

  3. Celebrate Milestones: Quilting is all about the journey, not just the finished quilt. Celebrate each step along the way! Finished cutting your fabric? That's a big win. Completed your first block? Another one!

  4. Connect with the Community: This QAL isn’t just about making a quilt—it’s about building relationships with fellow quilters. Stay connected via social media, share your progress, and offer encouragement to others with the hashtag #StarsAndVariationsQAL and by tagging me @broadclothstudio

By being part of a community that’s all working on the same project, you’ll stay motivated, inspired, and excited to keep going. And before you know it, you’ll have a beautiful new quilt!!
