The Bear Necessities.

· ·

It may not be the dog days of summer quite yet, but as we start to slow down we’ve begun to think of these as the “Bear Days”: something about these quasi-lazy summer days has us humming along with the classic song “Bare Necessities”.  Which of course gets us thinking of other bears in our life, specifically the bear paw pattern and all the wonderful, scrappy, creative, and fresh variations it can inspire:

  1. Nerding out: this history of the bear paw pattern has us itching to pull out our scrap bag (and this free pattern has us grabbing our rulers)

  2. Bear Hugs: this giant take on the pattern looks like the perfect long summer weekend project to us (and the perfect summer evening throw to snuggle in while looking up at Ursa Major and Minor)

  3. Beyond the quilt: we’re absolutely loving this pattern-turned-print interpretation (bikes, and bags, and jerseys, oh my!)

  4. Break it down for me: this deconstructed interpretation of the pattern just makes our mind whirl with all the variations that are possible to play with

  5. We’re always up for some seriously silly word play, and this tea-towel satisfies our exacting standards (we’re thinking Teddy & Bear would be just the cutest animated series idea...or embroidery pattern!
